Carrier Corporation is looking for highly motivated and results driven
Electrical Engineer to join the CMA Engineering team.
Job Responsibilities:
Design and Development:
- Develop and qualify low and medium voltage starters, electrical
drives and active filters
- Produce and evaluate possible design solutions for IGBT and/or MOSFET
based A/C motor drive inverters
- Perform worst case analysis, simulations, and design verification to
ensure electronic assemblies meet the requirements of indoor and outdoor
applications.
- Conduct experimental tests and evaluate results, including
electromagnetic compliance (EMC), electromagnetic immunity (EMI), highly
accelerated life test (HALT)
- Define qualification plan of electrical components to meet system
needs
Support:
- Develop the power and control electrical schematics to be used by
field engineers
- Oversee drive and starter suppliers in developing cost effective
solutions to meet our technical and quality requirements for the
electrical function for the product
- Support current production designs including quality improvements,
cost reduction, component obsolescence and failure analysis.
- Work with the suppliers to evaluate failures to determine root cause
and corrective actions.
- Participate with product teams on design development activities.
Familiarity with product development life cycle as per Project
Management Institute is a plus.
- Provide technical support to marketing, manufacturing, quality and
supply management organizations.
- Troubleshooting field and production issues related to drive and
starter
- Codes and regulations:
- Familiarity with UL and CE regulations, NFPA, NEMA and IEEE codes
- Complete the electrical agency submittal for the electrical function
of the product.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- BS Degree in Electrical Engineering or BSME, with
minimum of 5 years experience with electrical systems.
- MS Degree in Electrical Engineering with minimum of 3 years
experience with electrical systems.
Required:
- Detailed experience in electrical system design and troubleshooting
required.
- Strong functional knowledge of electronic components, VFD' and
electrical circuits.
- Familiar with root cause / troubleshooting techniques for electronic
assemblies.
- Understanding of communication protocols (RS-232, Modbus, Ethernet/IP
etc)
- Good documentation and presentation skills using PowerPoint, Visio
and Microsoft Project
Desired:
- Familiarity with Heating, Ventilating and Air Conditioning systems
highly desirable
- Experience with PLC is a plus.
- Ability to interpret CAD models is desired
- Excellent communication and analytical skills required.
- Proven ability to organize tasks, work with a project plan, and focus
on results is a must.
